Experience the power of rhythm, community, and music at our African Drumming Night, a lively and immersive 90-minute workshop set in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of the newly refurbished Rising Sun.
Led by an experienced local music teacher, this hands-on session offers a wonderful opportunity to learn traditional rhythms, explore the art of group drumming, and discover just how uplifting and energising making music together can be. Whether you have never touched a drum before or already have some musical experience, this workshop is designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
One of the most exciting aspects of African drumming is the way individual rhythms come together to create something much bigger than the sum of their parts. Throughout the session, you'll be guided through a series of rhythms and techniques, learning how different patterns interlock to form the vibrant, dynamic sounds that have brought communities together for generations. No previous experience is needed - just a willingness to join in and have fun.
All drums and percussion instruments will be provided, so there's no need to bring any equipment. Our outdoor setting adds to the atmosphere, allowing participants to enjoy the natural surroundings while experiencing the infectious energy of live drumming.
As the workshop will take place on the grass area at Rising Sun, we ask all participants to bring their own chair, camping chair, or rug/blanket for seating. Please also dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing a bottle of water to stay refreshed during the session.

Spaces are limited to ensure everyone has a drum and plenty of opportunity to participate, so advance booking is recommended.
