About the Event
Week ONE: In our first week we will learn the very basics of crochet - ways to hold the hook and yarn, how to do a chain (which is an essential starting point for many crochet projects!) and how to do two beginner stitches. This should provide you with the knowledge to tackle many, many patterns - you’ll be surprised how much you can do with just a couple of stitches! In this class, you’ll receive a basic beginner pack with everything you’ll need for the evening, plus some guides to help you practice in the future, and we’ll end the class with square swatches of the two different stitches.
Week TWO: In this lesson we’ll practice our stitches that we learnt in the first class, working on our tension, counting and covering how to move onto the next row. We’ll also look at reading patterns, understand the difference between US and UK terminology, and try our hand at increasing and decreasing stitches to create shapes within our work. By the end of this class, you should feel confident in the basic stitches, be able to make swatches of the different stitches with increases and decreases, and be ready to tackle your first pattern.
Week THREE: In our third lesson, we’ll work on a simple pattern together, creating either cup coasters, a small pouch or a little granny square bag. By the end of the three sessions, you will have the basic knowledge to take on a huge variety of projects, and will have all the materials to get started. If you attend all three sessions, you will also receive a small free gift handmade by Liss to store all your new equipment in!
If there are certain areas you want to become more skilled at, you can book on an individual session which covers that area.
